Turning everyday conversations into insight teams can act on.

Grain is a conversation-intelligence platform that captures, analyses, and shares the insight hidden inside every sales call. I joined when it was little more than a note-taker that sat in on meetings, and helped grow it into a tool that records, understands, and acts on what was said — automatically.

Overview

From note-taker to intelligence platform

When I started, Grain mostly transcribed meetings and let people highlight moments by hand. The ambition was bigger: a product that listens to every conversation and turns it into something a revenue team can actually use.

I work across design strategy, UX, visual design, and motion — shaping how the product looks, feels, and reasons as it grew from a single feature into a platform.

The challenge

Make the invisible legible

Conversation intelligence only earns its keep if people trust what it surfaces. The hard part wasn't capturing data, it was presenting it: the right highlight, the right insight, the right next step, without burying anyone in transcripts.

We had to design for reps in a hurry and managers coaching from the sidelines — often looking at the same call for very different reasons.

Approach

Automate the busywork, surface the signal

I helped move Grain from manual highlights to automated note-taking, real-time insights, and deal and coaching views that pull the important moments to the top.

Deep CRM integrations meant notes and follow-ups synced themselves, so the product did the admin and people could stay in the conversation.

Outcome

A leader in conversation intelligence

Grain grew from a simple note-taker into one of the most-loved tools in its category, with automation and insight features driving a real lift in adoption and everyday use.

The design language and patterns we set still carry the product as it expands.
